Subject: Subdomain setup for addon domains
The following message was sent by our staff regarding the above subject:
Hi Stephen,
The problem is that you're going to the wrong place to update the DNS. To manage DNS settings (such as subdomains) for addons, you must go to Addons => addondomanin.com => DNS.
You don't say exactly what you want to do with your subdomain - direct it to the main site, direct it to another directory, direct it to a specific page in a directory, etc.
If you want to direct it to the main site, simply duplicate the www.addondomain.com entry, changing out the "www" for the subdomain name. The IP address and all other info on that line will stay the same. In fact, this is the first step for all other forwarding choices, so be sure to follow this.
If you want to direct it to another directory or directory/page within the addon or the main site, you must first add it to the DNS as indicated above. Once you do that, simply create the same subdomain as an Addon Domain. Any of the following forwarding types can be used:
Frame Standard IP External IP Hosted
Make sure that the directory or page exists so that you can properly test it.
Also, PHP register_globals must be set to On in order to use our subdomain forwarding and Addon Domains features.
Please feel free to contact us again at any time if you need additional assistance. Thank you for contacting us.
