Subject: How to transfer your domain and website hosting to Webmasters.com. Domain transfer hosting transfer

Hi Scott,
Once you have purchased hosting with us, the next step is to determine what stage of launch your site is in in order to determine when to transfer your domain registration. Here are a few scenarios to help you determine what steps to take next.
If you plan to transfer your existing website to us, unchanged, then you will first need to upload your website files to our servers and create all of your email accounts. Next, go to your existing registry to point the DNS settings to our servers and verify that they are working properly (you should be able to see your site on our servers within 5 minutes, however sometimes this can take a few hours). Once everything is set properly, proceed with the domain transfer to our registry. You’ll need to make sure that your domain is unlocked with the current registrar, and you’ll need to obtain your EPP/Authorization (aka Auth code) to finalize the transfer. Most registrars allow you to do these things via their control panels.
Generally a domain registry transfer takes about one week, and you cannot modify the settings while a domain is in transit from one registry to another. If you plan to leave your site at the other host while you work on various components of your new website on our servers, then you have two choices, both of which relate to the timing of your launch.
If you anticipate that you will NOT need to change the DNS to point to your new server with us ***before one week is up***, we encourage you to initiate the domain registry transfer right away.
If you anticipate that you WILL need to change the DNS to point to your new server with us ***before one week is up***, we encourage you to initiate the transfer AFTER your launch, instead of immediately. This will give you full control to launch your new site when you are ready as you’ll be able to modify the DNS settings when you need to. When you transfer a domain from one registry to another, the DNS settings remain intact and do not need to reset, so it is usually important to account for the domain registry transit time.
Additional Tips For All Transfer Scenarios:
Please be sure all your information is current including, but not limited to a current email address for all domain names you wish to transfer to Webmasters.com. Registrars check to be sure the domain name owner is valid and generally this is done with the email listed in the Administrative Information section on the domain registration form. If you need to update your contact information for this particular section, please go to your current Domain Name Registrar (Godaddy, Network Solutions, Enom, Register.com, etc.). The next step is to receive an Authorization code from your current registrar and make sure the domain name is unlocked before you enter a "Request to Transfer" here at Webmasters.com. Again, check with your current registrar regarding how you can acquire both of these items. In most cases, these are available online in your control panel.
Once you have all this in place, you can begin the transfer process by going to https://secure.webmasters.com/domains/transfer.php. Enter your domain name and the current email address you have listed with your current registrar. We cannot stress enough that your email address needs to be current since all correspondence from us and/or your current registrar will be sent to this email address. To ensure that you receive mail from us, please add the following email addresses to your spam filter’s whitelist/safelist: billing@webmasters.com, info@webmasters.com and support@webmasters.com. Be sure to add your current registrar as well for a smooth, easy transfer.
Please feel free to contact us again at any time if you need additional assistance. Thank you for contacting us.
