Chris Saladino walked me through replacing my old FTP Client with FileZilla and has saved me hundreds of hours of future effort. I had a non-standard request to change my hosting account to another domain since I was changing my main domain name to suit my new stage. name.
Support agreed this with no quibble, no extra charge and with full guidance which steps I needed to take. They were helpful at every step of the way. It turned into quite a long thread (19 replies) and several support members replied at different stages, including L. Sterling, Paul Schultz, F. Harber, and some anonymous people only known as "Client Services Team". However, the help was seamless and the approach consistently friendly and enthusiastic. Webmasters, I can't thank your team enough for all their help! I am a VERY small business owner with enough technical expertise to be dangerous. I decided to re-launch my WordPress Website with WooCommerce Storefront, a WooCommerce Theme and a bundled PlugIn Package. How difficult could that be??? Well if I weren't hosting with Webmasters, it would have been a disaster. But you walked me through what I needed to do to move to an Apache 2 server and reset my PHP settings. All I had was the "white screen" with error messages that your techncial staff interpreted for me and gave me the documentation to follow. We did it together!!! Thank you WebMasters for taking it one step at a time and your encouragement! In fact, one of the support notes said "You are almost there!" which was a great encouragement to me!!!! Service is always good however I have a request. Since you have no shell access we are required to do everything through your control panel. As I'm sure you know this is very tedious. Having shell access would really be great especially for file and database management and especially since your file manager has some serious limitations. The most serious limitation is the way the "copy" function works. It doesn't behave the same as a UNIX or dos copy and will not overwrite files but merely puts a "copy_of" in the directory. For doing upgrades it's useless.
Can I get shell access? If not can you PLEASE fix the copy command in your file manager. Thanks, Ron Curry |
